John 17:17-24
Note: There are two great things that GOD has for all people, and they are both expressed in JESUS' prayer. The first is that all people get saved and the second is that all saved people grow in their salvation. Growing in our salvation is called sanctification.
JESUS Leads Our Sanctification (17-19)
Prays to the Father-"Sanctify Them"
To Grow-We must pray to the Father.
Trust in the Word-"Your Word is Truth."
To Grow-We must trust His Word.
Leads by example-"For their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified."
To Grow-We must follow JESUS.
JESUS Leads Our Mission (18, 20-26)
JESUS Sets the Pattern
"You sent Me...I also have sent them"
JESUS prays forward
"I...Pray...for those who will believe in Me through their word."
JESUS Teaches the method
"That they may be one just as We are One."
JESUS establishes the goal
"The world...believe that You sent Me"
